Something wonderful had just happened. The blossom was not only
new, it was something no one had ever seen before. It was unique. Its
velvety petals stretched out to face the sun fully with their rich colors
blending from a deep purple at the edge to red and yellow in the center.
The incredible flower, which was growing from a crack on the front
porch of an old house, swayed gently to and fro in the slight breeze that
blew over it. Such beauty, such grace, and it even gave off a heavenly
aroma.
Suddenly the flower was crushed flat and killed under a black
jackboot of a man walking up to the house. He knocked on the front door
and the occupant answered shortly.
"Good afternoon, ma'am," he said. "I'm from the government.
I am here to help."
